Gasfinolhu is a narrow coral sand island within the lagoon of Kaafu Atoll. The island developed as sand accumulated along the reef crest forming a finolhu-type sandbank. Historically such islands were used intermittently by fishing crews rather than permanently settled. The surrounding lagoon and reef flats continue to shape the island’s natural environment.
