About Gili Lankanfushi
Lankanfushi lies on a small reef platform in the northern lagoon of Kaafu Atoll. The island formed from coral sand deposition along the reef crest. Historically islands of this scale were used occasionally by fishing crews rather than permanent communities. The surrounding lagoon and reef slopes support coral and fish communities typical of the central Maldives.
