About Pullman Maldives Maamutaa Resort
Maamutaa lies within the lagoon of Gaafu Alif Atoll where shallow reefs connect scattered coral islands. The island formed as sand accumulated over a reef base and was later stabilized by coastal vegetation. Historically such islands were used occasionally for coconuts and fishing but were rarely permanently settled. The surrounding reefs and lagoon form part of the productive marine environment of the southern Maldivian atolls.
