About Aanugandu Island Resort
Aanugan'du Finolhu and Aanugan'du Huraa are reef islands within the lagoon of Kaafu Atoll. Like many finolhu islands, they developed where currents deposited coral sand along shallow reef edges. Historically such islands were used intermittently by fishing crews and for coconut harvesting rather than permanent settlement. Their narrow sand ridges and lagoon shores reflect the constant movement of sand along the reef crest, while surrounding reefs continue to support fish populations typical of central Maldivian atolls.
