About Baros Maldives
Baros is a small coral island within the lagoon of Kaafu Atoll. The island formed through the accumulation of coral sand on a shallow reef base. Historically such islands were rarely permanently inhabited due to limited freshwater but were used intermittently by nearby communities. The surrounding reefs and lagoon remain the island’s defining natural features and support marine life characteristic of the central Maldives.
