Gallandhoo
Gallandhoo is not a typical sand island. Its ground is firmer, almost stubborn, shaped by older reef material rather than shifting sand. The soil supports thick vegetation, including large stands of lhos gas, giving the island an unusual density for its size. Seasonal bird nesting during Iruvai moosun turns the island into a temporary refuge, while surrounding reefs support turtles and other marine life. There is no long history of settlement here, and that absence matters—it has allowed ecological processes to continue with minimal interruption. As a strict reserve, its value lies in remaining undisturbed rather than being seen or used.
