Mulidhoo Mangrove
Mulidhoo’s mangrove is formed where water gathers and remains, creating soft, nutrient-rich ground. The trees here stabilize this environment, supporting life that cannot exist in more exposed areas. Juvenile fish and invertebrates use these spaces before moving outward to the reef. The mangrove also acts as a barrier, reducing sediment loss and protecting the shoreline. It is a quiet system, easily overlooked, but deeply functional. Its health reflects how the island manages its land, particularly in areas where change happens slowly.
