Maafahi Mangrove
Mafahi’s mangrove reflects the delicate conditions under which such systems survive. It depends on limited space, stable water flow, and minimal disturbance. The trees bind soil and create shelter for small marine and terrestrial life. These wetlands also play a role in protecting the island from gradual erosion. Their presence suggests continuity—an environment that has not been entirely reshaped. While not always visible in daily life, the mangrove remains part of the island’s foundation, supporting both ecology and the quiet persistence of place.
