About Sandies Bathala
Bathala is a small island set within the central reef system of Ari Atoll. The surrounding reef slopes are known for dense coral growth and fish populations typical of the atoll’s inner reef environments. Historically, islands of this size were unlikely to sustain permanent settlement and were more often visited seasonally by fishers. The island today hosts a resort, but its geography remains that of a narrow coral cay formed by sand deposited on the living reef beneath it.
