About Filitheyo Island Resort
Filitheyo lies within the lagoon system of Faafu Atoll, a smaller atoll south of the central Maldives. The island formed through the accumulation of coral sand along a reef platform and is stabilized by dense coastal vegetation. Historically such islands were occasionally used for fishing or coconut harvesting but were rarely large settlements. The surrounding reef slopes and lagoon waters support coral communities typical of the mid-southern Maldives.
