Gaadiyaa Culture in Male'

The "gaadiyaas" of Male' were once an important place of gathering within the city. They served as mobile stalls selling a variety of goods, from "meeru bileh" to cigarettes for 5 rufiyaa a piece. They once served as symbols of the vibrant street life in the city, long forgotten now. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, these places have disappeared, and with it a very important part of public life in Male'
