About Fulidhoo

Fulidhoo is recognized for its traditional Maldivian drumming and dance, particularly the "Langiri," making it a cultural focal point in Vaavu Atoll. Located just 57 kilometers south of Malé, it covers 11.91 hectares and is home to approximately 294 people. The island has historical roots as a seasonal settlement for fishers and was permanently inhabited by the late 19th century. Fulidhoo offers guesthouse-based tourism, with several small facilities catering to divers and cultural tourists. Infrastructure includes a health post, mosque, primary school, and jetty. Water is sourced through rainwater tanks and supplemented by desalination units. Coral reefs near Fulidhoo support snorkeling and diving, as well as bait and reef fish collection. The island's vegetation consists mainly of coconut palms and pandanus. Fulidhoo’s cultural importance, combined with its proximity to the capital, positions it as one of the most accessible and heritage-rich islands in Vaavu Atoll.
