About Innamaadhoo

Innamaadhoo is renowned across the Maldives for its exceptional boatbuilding industry, with carpentry being its principal economic activity. The island produces a wide range of vessels, from small fishing boats to larger transport crafts, making it a national centre for skilled timber and fiberglass construction. Covering approximately 37.18 hectares, Innamaadhoo had a registered population of around 910 in 2023.

Located centrally in Raa Atoll, the island features a natural harbour and a surrounding reef system that supports fishing and inter-island transport. Tuna and reef fish, caught using handline and pole-and-line methods, form the backbone of the local fishing economy. Inland, the island supports agriculture with cultivated coconut palms, breadfruit, papaya, and mango trees, alongside backyard farming.

Community infrastructure includes a school, health centre, council office, utility services, and improved harbour facilities.
