Mathiveri is notable for operating one of the busiest fishing harbours in Alif Alif Atoll, supporting both artisanal and commercial pole-and-line fleets. The island spans approximately 0.61 km² and has a population exceeding 1,000. The harbour, located on the eastern side, supports anchorage for vessels year-round. Mathiveri’s economy is dominated by tuna fishing, particularly skipjack and yellowfin species. The reef environment also supports reef fish, octopus, and baitfish.
