About Maradhoofeydhoo
Maradhoofeydhoo is a narrow strip of land located between Maradhoo and Hithadhoo, connected by the Addu City causeway system. It is one of the smallest administrative divisions in Addu and has a registered population of around 1,395 residents. Its name reflects its geographical and historical connection to Maradhoo, from which it was administratively separated in 1996.
Despite its small size, Maradhoofeydhoo is fully urbanized and benefits from the inter-island road network that supports movement, trade, and access to services. The population is mostly engaged in civil service, retail, and jobs in nearby islands and resorts.
Due to its proximity to the British military base in Gan during the mid-20th century, Maradhoofeydhoo experienced socio-economic developments alongside the rest of Addu.
