Say It in Dhivehi- A Beginner’s Guide to Everyday Maldivian Words & Phrases

They call the Maldives the Flower of the Indies;  a scattered world of sunlit atolls, turquoise lagoons, and island communities shaped by the sea, stories, and generations of connection.

“Say It in Dhivehi” is a small pocket language companion created to help visitors, friends, and anyone curious about the Maldives connect through simple, everyday words and phrases. It is not designed to make you fluent overnight. Instead, it focuses on real moments,  greeting someone, asking for tea, expressing thanks, and sharing small conversations that bring people a little closer.

This is a guide made for everyday connection, not perfect language. Alongside the printed edition, “Say It in Dhivehi” is now available as a digital resource through our Resource Page, allowing people to access and download the guide easily from anywhere in the world.
